The BTG Team offers more than 20 years of combined experience serving financial institutions. Financial institution technology and regulations are constantly evolving, and we are committed to continuing education and training to stay on the leading edge.  

 

Kris Buckley, President

Kris founded Buckley Technology Group in March of 1999. Prior to BTG, Kris was the Installation & Training Manager for CUSA Technologies, Inc., a Fiserv Company. While at CUSA, Kris was responsible for the coordination of installations and training activities for all CUSA clients as well as the direct manager of over 20 field employees located throughout the continental United States.

 

Kris started BTG to focus and assist Credit Unions with the development of industry related processes, policies and technologies, etc. Today, Buckley Technology Group provides over 85 clients with consulting and technical related services, and industry specific policies and procedures.

 

Services include business continuity, e-commerce and information security audits, policies and plans as well as compliance related services.  Buckley Technology Group also recently introduced an employee security awareness training program that is tailored to the size and complexity of our clients.

  

Tim Buckley, Vice President 

Tim joined Buckley Technology Group in January 2007.  He is responsible for delivering consulting services as well as managing the operational aspect of BTG.  Tim’s primary focus has been in the areas of Information Security and Disaster Recovery consulting services. He also works with the President of Buckley Technology Group to develop new client and business partner relationships.  Tim’s work history has allowed him to contribute at the highest level and allow BTG to meet all critical goals and objectives.

 

Tim joined NWN, Inc. (formerly Netivity Solutions) in August 2004 as the Vice President of Business Development.  Tim was responsible for maintaining and expanding business with current clients and adding net-new clients for Netivity.  He was also responsible for C-level, executive relationship building with clients and partners. Tim maintained growth strategies for driving revenue and profitability. Tim was also a member of Netivity’s Executive team and was a key contributor to its success.

 

Prior to joining Netivity, Tim was responsible for the operation of Computer Network Technologies (CNT) Professional Service Resource Deployment department and also played a key role in their pre-sales pursuit process.  He managed the day-to-day functions around the proper allocation and deployment of CNT technical resources, working with Regional Service Line Delivery Directors, Regional Resource Deployment Managers, the Center of Excellence, Client Solutions, the Solutions Center and a Regional Recruiter, plus local support personnel. 

 

Prior to CNT, Tim worked at Prevail Technology, Inc. located in Waltham, Massachusetts. Tim served as the Resource Deployment Manager for Prevail.  He was also a Senior Technology Consultant delivering in areas focused on High Availability and was one of the highest utilized consultants while at Prevail.

 

Prior to joining Prevail, Tim served as National Manager of Installation and Training for CUSA Technologies, Inc., a FISERV company, based in Salt Lake City, Utah.  CUSA is a nationally recognized services provider in the financial industry with a dominant presence in credit unions. Following a similar career path at Prevail, Tim was hired as a consultant, perfected his skills in the technical arena, and moved into various management positions while at CUSA.

 

Tim attended Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from the Carroll School of Management.  Tim has 20+ years of experience in information technology and professional services and also holds various technical and professional sales certifications from IBM, Microsoft & Novell, etc., including the CISA designation.

 

Cheri Smeriglio, Senior Security Consultant 

Cheri joined BTG in April 2011 as a Senior Security Consultant.  With extensive experience in the financial services industry, Cheri provides consulting services for BTG in the areas of Information Security, Vendor Management and Disaster Recovery.

 

Prior to joining BTG, Cheri worked at Constitution Corporate Federal Credit Union, located in Wallingford, CT starting in March 2006 as the Information Security Officer.  Cheri was responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the Corporate’s Information Security Program, providing strategic and tactical support to IT, disaster recovery support, vendor management, and maintaining security systems relative to physical security. 

 

Prior to joining Constitution, Cheri was a Senior Information Security Specialist for Peoples Bank.  During her 18 year career at People’s Bank, Cheri held various positions in Information Technology/Security working with networking and communications, managing client/server architecture for 130+ branches, and supporting web-based delivery systems continued by  several years in information security managing intrusion detection systems, logging and monitoring program, coordinating penetration testing and incident response activities, vendor management and disaster recovery.

 

Cheri attended Greater New Haven State Technical College where she earned an Associate’s degree in Data Processing.  Cheri has 20+ years of experience in Information Technology/Security and holds the highly regarded CISSP designation.

 

Berta Varao, Senior Consultant 

Vice President of large credit union in Southeastern Massachusetts having assets over $200 million.  Over 20 years of experience in various positions held including CRA Officer, Main Office Branch Manager, Assistant Operations Manager, Network Administrator and most recently Vice President of Information Systems.  Held position of CRA Officer for over 8 years and duties included: Fair Lending Training for staff and senior management, HMDA review and annual report submission to state regulatory agency.  Involved in all senior level strategic and tactical planning phases with regards to new product and service development.  Directly responsible for adhering to regulatory requirements with regards to Information Security, Disaster Recovery, Compliance and Ecommerce.  Operational experience includes back office ACH and Share Draft processing as well as supervision of loan servicing area.

 

Donna Sullivan, Senior Technical Administrator

Donna is a Senior Technical Administrator at Buckley Technology Group with responsibilities for creating and maintaining Microsoft Access databases, which include creating customized database features and reports for user/client requests.  Donna also assists financial institutions with website regulatory reviews and assessments along with general compliance inquiries.  Prior to joining BTG, professional experiences included maintaining a database on Lotus Notes, creating reports, handling various aspects of the Training and Installation Department including updating the company website, processing registrations, and editing and creating documents.

Memberships & Affiliations

New England Disaster Recovery Information X-change (NEDRIX) --  Through NEDRIX, professionals in the disaster recovery and business continuity fields exchange ideas and expertise to foster more effective planning.  NEDRIX members are active in building relationships between business and government to strengthen the collective response to threats to critical industrial, economic and government functions.
